“The more I work with Adults the more I feel the need and urge to work with/for Children”.

Lately I have been thinking quite a bit about  Education or Child development, probably because I have, by accident or by choice (am not sure), gotten into the business of development, and being in this business I have had my share of time and thus luxury to observe the world – directly & indirectly, its richness and its poverty,  think and work on the perceived pressing problems of the society, think about the long term (sustainable) development issues, do strategic plans, analyze the cause and impact and what not..   And every time I involve myself in all this and every time I get stuck with this WHO AM I ? and other related puzzles, It all boils down to education. These four words ‘Education is the key’ keep on pressing inside me… I almost always end up with a conclusion (I do understand that this is an incomplete and transitory conclusion) that had people/children been properly brought up or If people/children are properly being brought up this world would have been much better off (in terms of our self-knowledge, in terms of lesser poverty, better health, lesser inorganic competition, more equality in opportunities, better environment and better leaders).

I think, I must at this point also specify what do I mean when I use terms like education or child development.. Pls. note that I use them interchangeably. When, I say education I mean it in quite a larger and inclusive sense. It extends itself from the population policy to the condition of senior citizens and everything that goes on around all this. Thus, I intend to cover as many revolving/surrounding issues as possible in this blog.

I intend to position this Blog just as one more medium for different perspectives on education. We will be talking about a range of issues right from the philosophy behind education, quotes on education till the latest research on education. I request all the readers (if there are any :-) ) or those interested in education to share their perspective or views on education  in the form of comments.

Maintainig this blog, I believe will also help me to widen/build my own perspective on educaiton which will then enable me to work effectively in this field (I am gonna shift from Development finacne to education- sooner or later.)

To end this - though abruptly, I remember one Sher (A form of poem in Urdu language) Which I really Cherish..

Bhadka raheñ haiñ aag lab-e naghmagar se hum

Khaamosh kya rahenge zamaane ke dar se hum

Le de ke apne paas faqat ek nazar to hai

Kyoñ dekheñ zindagi ko kisi ki nazar se hum

Maana ke is zameeñ ko na gulzaar kar sake

Kuch khaar kam to kar diye, guzre jidhar se hum

Here we go, stoking flames through song-laden lips

The fear of the world can never staunch the flow of our words

In all, we have just one view, our own

Why should we see the world through someone else’s eyes?

It is true, we did not turn the world into a garden

But at least we lessened some thorns from the paths we traveled
